Instrumental Music
Year 7 Music Artist Discovery Program
This is a year-long program involving all Year 7 students. First semester is compulsory for all students and second semester is optional for those who wish to continue.
All students:
- learn to play an instrument through weekly classes
- get an instrument to take home and practise
- get the opportunity to rehearse weekly and play in a band
- begin developing the skills of a musical artist including composing, arranging and performing your own music as well as playing other people’s music.
Year 8-12 music programs
Instrumental music programs enable the students to continue to develop their music skills in playing, reading, composing and performing. You will learn skills in:
- perform, develop, compose and arrange your own music
- contribute as a successful session musician playing other people’s music and projects.
In Years 8-10, learning often takes place in small groups. This is fun and interactive and allows creative partnerships to develop.
In Years 11-12, if you are undertaking VCE VET music, learning usually takes place individually. This enables you to focus on building the repertoire to prepare for the VCE VET exam.
